Music Again!

Here we are in wonderful Santa Cruz, about to kick off a real live tour of California at Moe's Alley - tonight.  Dave Alvin, The Guilty Ones, and me.  It's geared up to be great - the rehearsals were as fun as the touring we had to stop more than two years ago.  Everyone is ready, and we hope you are too!

Happy Year of the Earth Dog

Happy Year of the Earth Dog. Sounds friendly and likeable doesn't it? I hope it's a good one for all of us.

I'll be going on the road a lot this year. I've been having lots of fun playing music with Dave Alvin the past year and we'll be doing more of that throughout 2018. It's been a privilege sharing the stage with him. Not only is he a great songwriter and extraordinary guitar player, he's a genuinely good guy. We  have a deep well of shared musical heritage to pull from and our live shows may possibly be more fun for each of us as they are for our fans.

This spring, I'll be playing a few shows with Carrie Rodriguez and Ruthie Foster, amazingly talented musicians and songwriters. I don't know how I got so lucky to get gigs with them.  Carrie will make you cry and Ruthie will save your soul.   Together, we offer a wide spectrum of Texas music.

Butch Hancock and I will play some shows together whenever our schedules mesh. You can catch us on March 13 at Threadgill's during SXSW. And I'm sure we'll have a few Flatlander's shows when Joe Ely, Butch Hancock and I can find the molecules lining up correctly for our three schedules.

I'm gonna make a big effort to keep everyone updated through the so-called social media channels this year.  My wife is re-doing my website and we're going to keep it fresh and up-to-date.

Stay tuned to this website, facebook, instagram and spotify. And sign up for my newsletter here so you get announcements about ticket sales for shows as soon as they are announced.
